The last verse in the Gospel of John is incredibly powerful. The author was getting ready to close out his masterpiece and added one final note before signing off: “And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which, if they were written one by one, I suppose not even the world itself could contain the books that would be written” (21:25).

The Gospels are a magnificent collection of the amazing miracles and wonders Jesus performed during His time on the earth and, according to the writer of the Gospel of John, this collection contains just a small fraction of everything He did.

That means in addition to cleansing lepers, raising the dead, casting out demons, making lame men walk and blind men see, He did countless other deeds for the hurting people He encountered every day. Isn’t that an amazing insight into the compassionate and loving nature of our Savior?

Today, marvel at the greatness of Jesus Christ, whose own creation can’t contain all of the wonderful things He did during His short time on earth. And the great news? He’s still at work today in the lives of His people; His mighty deeds have not stopped.

“For it is God who is working in you, enabling you both to desire and to work out His good purpose” (Phil. 2:13).
