“The Lord is my shepherd” (Ps. 23:1).

The Lord is your shepherd and you are His sheep. He knows you by name. He knows your cry. You are not just another face in the crowd; you are His beloved child.

You shall not want. A child of God lacks no good thing. You have everything you need to do what He’s called you to do today.

He leads you beside still waters and restores your soul. He repairs your withered heart, filling you with His Word and Spirit. He renews broken things, creating in you a clean heart. His work of restoration is an endless process. He did not restore your soul just on one occasion, but He continues to restore it.

He guides you in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. He does not lead you into temptation, sin, or peril. He leads you into righteousness and refines your heart to become like His.

Even though you walk through the valley of death, do not fear, for He is with you. You can trust His leadership. Believe that He is really, truly with you in the valley. He has never abandoned one of His children, and you will not be the first.

Surely goodness and mercy will follow you all the days of your life. His mercy chases you. You cannot outrun His goodness, for it follows you all the days of your life.

You will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. As a believer in Christ, you are eternally secure. You will be with Him forever. This is your great reward.

Today, read Psalm 23 and rest in the presence of your Shepherd.
