“Aren’t two sparrows sold for one penny? Yet not one of them falls to the ground without your Father’s consent. But even the hairs of your head have all been counted. So don’t be afraid therefore; you are worth more than many sparrows” (Matt. 10:29-31).

There is nothing in this universe that falls apart from the Father’s consent and attention. He sees every creature in all of the vast seas, creatures no human eye has seen in depths no human has traveled. He sees every animal that runs in the wild, animals too fierce for humans in places too mysterious to explore.

This same God sees the smallest sparrows, knowing when even one falls to the ground. And what’s even more amazing? He sees you. You are of more value to Him than all the animals of the earth, for God has a unique affection for humankind. He has a unique affection for you.

If you lose a hair while brushing it in the morning, He knows. Every strand on your head has been accounted for because He is so intimately acquainted with you. Do not be afraid, then. God knows and values you. Nothing can happen to you apart from His consent. Nothing. This doesn’t make things easy, but it absolutely makes life worth living.

Today, trust in a God who intimately knows and cares for you. Remember His gaze is on you.
