Some people can barely find their way to the grocery store, while others could find their way out of the woods at midnight with no compass. But none of us is any good at finding our way through life. We simply must obey Jesus’ directive — “Follow Me” — if we are to make it out alive.

Imagine yourself in the company of a highly capable guide while hiking through a breathtaking valley. After a mile or so, you get in the zone: time loses significance as you focus on the next step, your feet negotiating rocks and tree roots, your legs burning pleasantly, your breathing deep and even. As you give yourself to the journey, you are content, energized, and entirely present in the moment.

By surrendering to God’s lead, you can give yourself to the journey that is your life. Trust Him to plot your course: “Whenever you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear this command behind you: ‘This is the way. Walk in it’” (Isa. 30:21). Don’t worry about the details. God’s got all the resources necessary for you to go where He’s called you to go.

Today, determine to enjoy your journey. That way, you can fully experience each moment, and you won’t miss out on the beauty of now.

“Think about Him in all your ways, and He will guide you on the right paths” (Prov. 3:6).
