“A single day in your courts is better than a thousand anywhere else! I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of my God than live the good life in the homes of the wicked” (Ps. 84:10, NLT).

Human nature calls you to search for satisfaction and significance because God created you in such a way that you would forever be looking for them in Him. Many search their entire lives for these things, yet only find momentary pleasure that gives the illusion of long-term satisfaction. This kind of pursuit only serves to deepen the unfulfilled aching. It’s a vicious cycle, perpetuated by brokenness and wounding.

You were made from love for love. God didn’t create you out of need, for He lacks nothing. He created you for the simple pleasure of relationship. Out of the entirety of His creation, God looks across the universe and the one thing He desires above all else is the human heart. Isn’t that amazing?

You can live an entire lifetime filling your soul with fading pleasures, but when you come face to face with Love itself, there is no comparison — He is what you’ve been searching for all along.

When you experience the love of God in a tangible way, you drink of the water that quenches thirst. And when you drink of this water, you’ll realize there is absolutely nothing better in this life.

Today, go after the only One who can truly satisfy.
