Those who trust God whole-heartedly with the future don’t devise backup plans just in case He doesn’t come through.

When God called Abram, who was 75 years old at the time, to leave his home and travel to a foreign land, Abram obeyed and never looked back. He packed up all of his belongings and traveled with his family to the land of Canaan.

Abram didn’t have a plan B — “Well, if this doesn’t work out, I can always … .” What God was calling Abram to do required unwavering trust and complete surrender. There was no backup plan. And as a result, Abram received God’s promised inheritance.

Don’t be willing to settle for second best because you’re afraid to trust God, afraid to leave your dreams and desires in His hands and follow Him into the unknown. Fear tells you to settle for plan B, to take it just in case something better doesn’t come along, but faith tells you to wait on God and trust Him for His best.

Today, resolve to let go of all your backup plans. Give your complete self to God and don’t settle for anything less than His plan A.

“Go out from your land, your relatives, and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. I will make you into a great nation, I will bless you, I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing” (Gen. 12:1-2).
