David Wilkerson said, “The hardest part of faith is always the last half hour,” meaning that when you feel you’re on the verge of giving up on God and His promises, of throwing in the towel and sinking under the weight of despair, that’s a sign your victory is right around the corner.

That’s probably how the Israelites felt the seventh day they had to march around the walls of Jericho. They were likely excited on the first day and even the second day because the promise of God was still fresh on their minds. But what about the third and fourth days, when they kept doing the same thing over and over again with no results? Then the fifth and sixth days rolled around, and still the same routine.

Did they question in their minds if what God had told them was actually true? Did faith get harder to hold onto with each passing day?

As we know, God did keep His promise, and the walls of Jericho came crashing down on the seventh day. But what if the Israelites had given in to doubt that morning and decided not to march? What if, in the “last half hour,” they had decided it was hopeless, that nothing would change? They would have missed the promise of God.

Today, if you feel like you’re barely hanging onto hope, pray for an extra dose of faith. Believe that your victory is right around the corner.

“For you need endurance, so that after you have done God’s will, you may receive what was promised” (Heb. 10:36).
