“God heard their groaning, and He remembered His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. God saw the Israelites, and He took notice” (Ex. 2:24-25).

In seasons of pain, it’s easy to look around and believe God is blessing everyone in the world except you. Grief has a habit of making you feel isolated and abandoned. Questions begin to stir in your mind: Did I do something to deserve this? Does He even hear me when I pray?

When doubt plagues your mind, you must lean on the character of God. Recount His goodness in your life, and remember His faithfulness that “endures through all generations” (Ps. 100:5).

The nation of Israel spent four hundred years enslaved to Egypt, but God made a covenant with their forefathers to bring them into a promised land. Did He forget?

Night after night, they groaned and prayed, begging to be liberated from their oppression. Generations passed away, and it seemed as if God had abandoned His own people. Looking ahead, we can see that God had a marvelous plan to liberate His people through Moses, a Hebrew baby (turned prince of Egypt, turned desert shepherd).

When God spoke to Moses about His plan, He said He heard Israel’s groaning, remembered His covenant, saw the Israelites, and took notice of them. It was only a matter of time before God’s will unfolded and the Hebrews were freed from their oppression.

Today, in the midst of His ever-unfolding plan, remember that God hears you, sees you, and takes notice of your pain. Your grief is not lost on Him, and He will stay true to His promises.
